A committee has been set up to investigate the death of a woman after she underwent surgery for the removal of her gall bladder at King Khaled General Hospital in Najran. The committee, ordered established by Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeah, Minister of Health, will probe any negligence on the part of hospital authorities that resulted in the death of the woman patient. A member of the committee said the panel includes consultant doctors from the Ministry of Health as well as a liver surgery consultant from the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh. He said according to the minister's instruction, the committee will question the responsible medical team in Najran General Hospital, King Khaled Hospital in Najran and Asir Central Hospital in Abha besides looking into the patient's medical record. He said the committee will hold in abeyance the findings of the Najran Directorate of Health Affairs in the case. Turki Muhammad Al-Anthari, the dead woman's husband, said the committee will take to task those who caused the death of his wife. He said the minister's order made it clear that his wife's dossier should not be submitted to the Shariah Medical Commission.
