The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah has reiterated its warning to runaway Filipino workers not to believe rumors that they can leave the Kingdom through a “backdoor” in Jeddah. It also advises the overstayers to wary of anyone who claims to have contacts at the Passport Department or Jawazat to facilitate their repatriation from the Kingdom. The Consulate General said it has received complaints from some runaways that they had been duped by a man who claimed to have friends at the Jawazat. The nine complainants, it added, came to Jeddah from different cities and had paid from SR1,500 to P2,500.
