Sons beat and tortured me, laments mother

A 28-year-old man is being questioned by the Commission for Investigation and Prosecution (CIP) in Riyadh after his mother accused him of “beating and torturing” her.
The mother said she was “not happy” that her son is behind bars, and that all she wanted was for “him and his brothers to leave me alone and stop threatening me”.
“I was living with my husband and our 14 children in a house in Dammam, but after my husband died his sister, who I never saw eye to eye with, started interfering and persuaded my children to go and live with her and sell the house where I was living,” the mother said. “She told them that I would inevitably get married again and give everything I inherited from their father to my new husband.”
“After that they started giving me a really hard time and eventually started hitting me and even tried to run me over with a car,” she continued.
“They even stabbed me in the hand with a knife and the scar is still there.”
The mother also claims that her sons attempted to have her committed to a Psychiatric Hospital so that they would become guardians of the inheritance, and eventually she acceded and signed documents for the son who is now being investigated.
After he got hold of the document, however, he and his brothers reportedly admitted her to Al-Amal Hospital in Dammam, a center for the treatment of drug addicts, where she stayed for two months.
Upon her release, the sons threatened to send her back if she failed to give over the whole inheritance to them, but when she found out that her sister-in-law had in her absence married off two of her daughters to her own sons without consulting her, she lodged a complaint at a Dammam court.
“All I want from my adult sons is that they give rights to their younger brothers and sisters, one of whom is a five-year- old girl who I have not seen for four years, and allow us to live in peace without threats,” she said.
