year-old girl who has been paralyzed since birth is waiting for four years to gain access to a rehabilitation center, according to her family. The parents of Amal Al-Otaibi, 7, have been trying to get her admitted to the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center in Taif because she needs urgent treatment. Her father, Hussein Al-Otaibi, said he tried to get her into the center a long time ago but was told that she had to be three years of age. “When she turned three I tried again. They took her file and said I must wait, but I have been waiting for four years now,” he said, adding that his daughter's condition is deteriorating and his frequent visits to private hospitals have affected him financially. An official at the Social Affairs Department in Taif said the center in question cannot accommodate more patients with its current capacity. He said the waiting list of the center contains about 400 patients. “We asked the ministry to expand the center to accommodate more patients but we're still waiting for a response,” he said.
