Some 5,500 people with no residency papers were arrested in the month of Safar (February) through daily campaigns by Samtah Province Police patrols. The campaign – commanded by the province's police chief Colonel Ali Al-Kamli and supervised by lieutenant Jabir Al-Madkhali – also resulted in 990 traffic violation tickets issued and 90 unregistered motorcycles impounded. The patrols also raided a liquor distillery and confiscated five stolen cars from there, including one loaded with fireworks. Other confiscated items were 87 bags of tobacco leaves and 43 boxes of fireworks. The police also destroyed 182 bundles of qat. The arrested illegals will be referred to the Immigration Department prior to the deportation. A number of unidentified men, women and children among the illegals were arrested from the valleys of Habona and Badr Al-Janoob. They will be referred to Najran's Immigration Department. __
