year-old Saudi national, Dakhil Awwadhallah Al-Mu'badi, has approached the National Society for Human Rights seeking help in putting an end to a court case that has dragged on for about 18 months, and in which he is accused of posing as a policeman and physically attacking a group of workers. According to a relative, the individual responsible for the “false complaint” is unknown to Al-Mu'badi's family. “When we first went to court and he saw my grandfather he ran out, and hasn't appeared at any subsequent hearing, showing that he knew he'd got the wrong person,” said Subhi Al-Mu'badi. “We'd never seen or heard of him before, and he'd obviously never come across my grandfather.” The elderly man's accuser later offered to back down from the case. “We refused to accept that,” the grandson continued. “He called in the police with false allegations and they took my grandfather by force, something we will not accept, and then he was forced in his condition to go to court hearing after court hearing.” Hussein Al-Shareef of the NSHR said he would contact the court and urge that the case be resolved swiftly in favor of the defendant.
