The Passports Department detained 129 persons on Tuesday, around half of them women, for living or working illegally in the Kingdom. The crackdown campaign, which was conducted in the districts of Al-Rawabi and Kilo 7 and 8, began late at night and continued into the early hours of Wednesday, targeted beggars and street vendors after officials received information concerning their places of residence. Many of those detained worked as sellers of commodities at traffic lights or lived off scavenging in garbage containers.
