Investment in education is crucial for the advancement of Saudi society, according to Prince Faisal Al-Muammar, Deputy Minister of Education. Speaking at the concluding session of the Jeddah Economic Forum Tuesday he said it was important for the Kingdom's development strategy to create an infrastructure that propels the society to become a knowledge-based one. “We realize investment in human development is the best and most useful type of investment. Today, a rich nation is one who possesses knowledge,” adding that poverty also means “the inability to compete, not only having a lack of money”. He said the new education vision will involve all sectors of society and take into account the priorities of the Saudi economy. The education strategy will ensure that the Kingdom can compete with advanced countries. The strategy had been completed by the ministry and submitted to King Abdullah, who has referred it to the Supreme Economic Council for implementation in the near future.
