The Directorate of Health Affairs in the Al-Baha Region has formed a committee to investigate a complaint filed by a Saudi national against a private hospital in the region for allegedly cutting a hole in his wife's colon during a Caesarian section operation. Nasser Sa'eed Awwadh, Acting Director of Medical Licenses at the Directorate General of Health Affairs in Al-Baha, said the case would be investigated after the formation of a committee consisting of the Therapeutic Inspector at the directorate, a consultant in gynecology and obstetrics and a member from the directorate. In the complaint, Musa'ed Suwaid Mingash said a female gynecologist decided to conduct a Caesarian section on his pregnant wife on Feb.1. Following the operation and the delivery of their first baby girl, his wife remained in the hospital for four days and was released on Feb. 4. “Several days after my wife left the hospital she felt sudden pain in the abdomen with the occurrence of strange flatulence. This forced us to visit the hospital once again, but the doctors there couldn't determine the cause. They decided to conduct an exploratory operation but I refused. So I transferred her to Baljurashi General Hospital where it was discovered that she had a hole in her colon causing a leak for six days of all the waste from the digestive system into the abdominal cavity.” The husband said his wife had to undergo an urgent surgical operation at Baljurashi General Hospital and she is currently still in the ICU. Mingash is demanding that those responsible be held accountable and called for compensation for her suffering.
