Monday's Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense and Aviation Minister, described the 10th Jeddah Economic Forum as a “unique opportunity for notable experts to address significant global economic issues” and as allowing the Kingdom to “project its role as a key player in the world economy and the noticeable progress it has made in all areas”. The weekly session was briefed on talks that King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, held with Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, during his recent visit to the Kingdom. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Abdul Aziz Khoja, the Minister of Culture and Information, said the Crown Prince also briefed members on recent consultations with world leaders, including telephone calls to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques from President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir of Sudan and the President of Chad Idris Dibi. Other topics on the Cabinet's agenda included regional and domestic issues, among them the recommendation, which was approved by members, from the Permanent Committee of the Supreme Economic Council to task the Electricity and Dual Production Organizing Authority with organizing services in Jubail and Yanbu as per the guidelines set forth in a previous Cabinet decision. The Council further tasked the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu with organizing services for the distribution of cooled and treated water, potable and irrigation water, and sewage in Jubail and Yanbu. The Council also approved that the same financial assistance be given to bereaved children of female teachers as had been provided to the offspring of deceased male teachers. The aid is limited to the children of women whose husbands are not employed as teachers.
