Operations started Thursday at the newly expanded North Terminal at Jeddah's King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA). The terminal, expanded by more than 5,000 square meters to 29,000 square meters, can now handle passengers for up to 12 flights. Sameer Merah, KAIA director of operations said the number of counters has increased from 48 to 56 and the new luggage check-in system has been upgraded with an audio system and an electronic signboard. The terminal's duty-free area has increased to 1,000 square meter and, for waiting passengers, there are 500 additional seats. __
