The Winter Tourism Festival was inaugurated here Friday by Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Muammar, Governor of Taif and Chairman of the Tourism Development Council. The one-month festival, which features a number of interesting folkloric shows, has been designed to suit all age groups, the governor said. The tourism committee expects the festival to attract more than 300,000 tourists and visitors from outside the summer resort, he added. The shopping festival being held in the eastern part of King Faisal Model Park in Taif includes exhibitors from within and outside the Kingdom who are displaying a variety of interesting products, he said. The governor said the activities of this year's festival include several programs for families and children, adding that the tourist sites at Al-Wa'rd City have been designed according to the latest international standards. “A large number of those performing Umrah travel through the “Meqat” of Al-Sa'ail Al-Kabeer and Wadi Mehrim to spend several nights in Taif,” he said. He also lauded the unlimited support extended by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah, to the development of tourism in Taif.
