The Ministry of Labor Saturday launched its e-services to facilitate the issuance and renewal of work permits, employment and payment of service fees. Dr. Abdul Wahid Bin Khaled Al-Humaid, Deputy Minister of Labor, said the ministry attaches due importance to the electronic transactions program, which will help boost the performance of the ministry and facilitate administrative matters for the general public. He said that the program will be implemented in phases. In the first phase, all organizations / companies with a workforce of 1,000 or more will be registered at the ministry's headquarters by Feb.15, while the registration of companies/ organizations employing 501 to 701 workers will be completed on Mar. 6. However, establishments having a workforce of 500 or below will be registered with labor offices in all regions of the Kingdom and the schedule for the registration of such companies will be announced later, he said. The electronic government services program, Al-Humaid said, envisages the automated renewal and issuance of work permits and payment of service fees. He said that with the system in place, business owners will not have to visit labor offices for petty issues as various details pertaining to work permits, statistical statements, etc. will be available online. Al-Humaid said some large companies have been invited to evaluate the electronic transactions program and they greatly appreciated the ministry's efforts in that regard.
