Just three days before the crucial budget session of Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly, a political crisis seems to be staring in the face of the state as the Terms of Reference (ToR) of Srikrishna committee on Telangana has created a fresh turmoil in the state. Demanding the withdrawal of the ToR, Students Joint Action Committee of Osmania University has called for general strike Saturday throughout the region. Almost all the pro-Telangana parties and groups have rejected the seven point ToR as “anti Telangana”. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti, which is fighting for separate state for the last 10 years, has decided that all its MPs and MLAs will tender their resignations immediately. TRS has two members of Lok Sabha, 10 MLAs and one MLC. TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao has sought an appointment with parliament speaker to hand over his resignation. Alleging that the center has once again deceived the people of Telangana, KCR asked all his MLAs to immediately reach Hyderabad and draft their resignation in prescribed format. “All the legislators will meet the speaker of assembly tomorrow (Saturday) and hand over their resignations”, he said. He strongly rejected the ToR terming them as “mindless” and charged the center with betraying the people of Telangana. There were indications that Telangana leaders of ruling Congress party and the main opposition Telugu Desam were also thinking in terms of tendering their resignations.
