General Directorate of Passport in Riyadh said it has started issuing exit visa through its Muqeem website. A source at the directorate said the exit visa, however, would not be processed unless the foreign worker had signed his name and confirmed receiving all of his benefits from his employer. He said the employee would be allowed to leave the country only when the employer's representative produced a document showing that the employee's residency permit card (or iqama) had already been handed over to the passports authorities. Once the employee's residency permit card was delivered, the authorities will provide the employer with a “deportation certificate.” The source pointed out that the new deportation procedures don't apply to those who work as accountants for the security of both the employer and employee. Employees of other professions must sign a computerized clearance so that it can be referred to in case of any future dispute raised by either party.
