Amal Hospital accountant who exposed financial irregularities and was then accused by the management of the hospital of being insane decried the fact that two months have passed and Jeddah's Health Affairs Directorate has still not completed its investigation of the case. He has not been reinstated to his post, he claims, nor allowed to enter the hospital premises, although Jeddah's Health Affairs Directorate issued a decision two months ago ordering that he be paid his full salary. He said that he wonders if the law permits a civil servant to be paid his salary without performing his job. “The hospital has accused me of being insane and has barred me from entering the premises which is a direct challenge to the decision of the Jeddah Health Affairs Directorate,” he said. This also raises the question, he added, as to whether Health Affairs Directorate is concerned about the enforcement of the decision that it has made or whether they give a free hand to hospital management to do whatever they want. “It is very painful to see no action being taken against those who accused me of being insane. What really pains me is the passive stand of the Ministry of Health, which acts as if the hospital does not fall under its responsibility,” he said. “I have no other choice but to appeal to ministry officials, especially the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeah, he added. “I am suffering from mental torture because of the accusations that have been made against me. It is a very embarrassing matter, especially for my children,” he explained. He claimed that the hospital management is deliberately delaying the report on his work performance requested by the ministry. He said that he exposed financial irregularities at the hospital and refused to sign orders based upon these financial violations. He added that he will never give up his rights and will defend himself in a court of law, if necessary, until justice takes its course. “I deserve to be commended for my honesty and dedication, not punished because of it,” he said.
