Healath authorities in the city have referred to the Shariah Medical Commission the case of a swine flu-infected Saudi woman who died immediately after giving birth to a baby in a private hospital here. The committee has also submitted its preliminary report after listening to the testimony of the parties involved. The report showed that the family of the deceased woman has accused the hospital of negligence causing her death. The report indicated that the woman developed swine flu symptoms in the hospital due to the unhygienic conditions there. Bandar, the brother of the deceased, accused the hospital of poor hygiene. He said his sister was treated throughout her pregnancy by doctors in the hospital and delivered her baby there. He claims that after she gave birth she was transferred to an ordinary room where she developed symptoms of swine flu, such as high temperature and difficulty in breathing. “The doctors prescribed some sedatives and discharged her,” the brother alleged. After a couple of days, the woman's condition deteriorated and she was rushed to the ICU where she died two days later, the brother said. He said he has lodged an official complaint with Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeah, Minister of Health, against the negligent doctors.
