Police in Makkah are trying to identify thieves and vandals who stole and smashed up ten cars in one go in the Al-Qashla District of the city on Sunday. Locals who reported the theft said they believed a local group of youths known as the “Six Tree Gang” to be responsible. “They have hide-outs in the area and walled courtyards where they disassemble stolen cars and drink and smoke hashish all night,” said Omar Abdulhay, whose car was one of those stolen. The gang is reputedly made up of persons aged between 17 and 20 with criminal records. A police officer said they were “investigating 10 vehicles in Al-Qashla that were either smashed up or stolen by persons residing in the same district”.
