Ten Yemeni soldiers have been killed, most of them by snipers, and 18 wounded in a fresh outbreak of fighting with rebels in north Yemen, a military official said Monday. The latest clashes come days after the government announced a timetable for a ceasefire, to which the rebels have yet to respond. However, sources in Yemen said that the leader of the Houthi rebels had given “initial consent” to the timeframe laid out in the six-point truce on the war in Saada. Abdul Malik Al-Houthi was also said by the sources to have a number of “observations” on the way the conditions of the document would be put into effect. The truce conditions stipulate the freeing of all Yemeni citizens and soldiers held hostage and six missing Saudi soldiers, plus revealing details of the fate of others.
