Ghabban, Deputy Chairman for Antiquities and Museums at the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) is expected to announce Monday the discovery of an important archeological site in Khobar city dating back thousands of years. The discovery includes the unearthing of ancient earthen utensils on a plot of land owned by Saudi Aramco. The announcement will be made at a press conference Monday to be held at the site of the discovery in Rakat Al-Khobar. In the past, the SCTA had found pieces of earthenware dating back thousands of years. Researchers expect the existence of a historical city under the ground, representing pre-and-post-Islamic civilizations. Through its research teams the SCTA is continuing to work at the archeological sites.
