A Saudi citizen has filed a complaint with the office of the National Society for Human Rights here, against the Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC). Afeef Eid Al-Harbi stated in his complaint that the communication company's six mobile phone towers installed on the roof of a building adjacent to his residence caused three miscarriages in his family. Al-Harbi wants SR10 million in compensation. He said radiation emanating from the towers caused pregnancy complications to his wife and sisters. He noted in his complaint that the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has prohibited location of mobile phone towers in residential areas. He alleged that the communication company did not pay heed to scientific researches about the danger to human caused by communications towers. Dr. Nabeel Yamani, a Gynecology and Obstetrics Consultant and member of the Medical Committee in Madina, did not rule out the possibility of the towers' effect on the pregnant women. The Legal Affairs director at the communication company's branch in Madina said that the company would put up a defense, maintaining that mobile-phone tower do not cause such effect on pregnant women. __
