Police were called in to tackle a drunk driver causing panic on the Taif to Riyadh road on Wednesday. The jeep, which had reportedly been traveling at a “crazy speed” and swerving across the road forcing other cars to take evasive action, was eventually stopped after a checkpoint was set up in response to the reports. When the motorist saw the checkpoint, however, he swiftly turned his wheel and attempted to speed off across the desert, prompting a pursuit which ended with him being forced to stop by several patrols cars. Police said that four bottles of whisky were found inside the jeep. It also transpired that the driver was wanted by police in connection with drugs offenses.
