Faisal, Emir of Makkah Region, launched Tuesday a development workshop for the eastern districts in Jeddah in an attempt to safeguard residents against floods. Jeddah, the gateway to the holy sites and the Bride of the Red Sea, is a special and well-loved city that deserves special treatment, Prince Khaled said during the inauguration of the workshop which was attended by Jeddah Governor Prince Misha'l Bin Majed and Jeddah Mayor Adel Faqih. “There is a solution to every problem, and we need your ideas and studies to develop the eastern part of the city before forwarding recommendations to the King,” Prince Khaled said to the audience. The workshop is to address the aftermath of the floods which claimed over 122 lives and damaged many properties. It is an attempt to prevent such a catastrophe in the future, he said. Government departments involved in the workshop included the Jeddah Mayoralty, the Civil Defense, the Saudi Geological Survey, the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment, King Abdulaziz University and the National Water Company. __
