The Jeddah Chambers of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) will launch a training program for journalists to enable them to report on the development of the country worldwide and enhance the performance of the media and information sector in Saudi Arabia. The JCCI signed an agreement in this regard with Al-Madina newspaper here this week. Dr. Aisha Neto, a JCCI official, said the doors are open for young men and women to engage in paper or electronic media work. Regarding the mechanism for the implementation of the project, she said the training program targets all groups. Dr. Neto said a media campaign will also be launched to attract a large number of journalists who want to achieve a quality leap in their profession. “The project is on the national curriculum, developed for the local media with the overall vision of building an advanced generation of Saudi media personnel,” she said. “Our main objective is to provide training to media students in all universities in the Kingdom,” said Dr. Fahd Al-Akran, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Madina newspaper. “With this training program, we want to contribute to global development, and support and increase the efficiency of Saudis working in different areas of the information sector,” he said. The project focuses on raising the level of professionalism and skills of male and female journalists working in various areas of the Kingdom. “We are delighted that the project has the support of Dr. Abdul Aziz Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information,” he said.
