A Ghazal Nite with famous Indian Ghazal singing duo Ahmed Husain and Mohammed Husain as well as Mohammed Vakil and their group presented by Indian Embassy in Riyadh at International Indian School auditorium (Girls section) enthralled audience for hours. It was the first time for Riyadh Ghazal enthusiasts to listen to the live performance of this famous duo who belongs to a classical music gharana from Jaipur. Mohammed Vakil their disciple and nephew and a star of the popular Indian TV talent show Sa, Re, Ga, Ma fame had already won the hearts of his fans in a concert in the Indian embassy auditorium in Riyadh a couple of months ago. It was a rare treat to listen to two generations of this Gharana. The accompanying orchestra included Naseer Ahmed Khan on Harmonium, Alla Rakha on Sitar, Gulam Ghous on Tabla, Abdul Ahad on Guitar and Baboo on keyboard. Ahmed Husain, Mohammed Husain, the winners of many prestigious awards in India and a lifetime achievement award from the Indian Association in New York, have given concerts all over the world. They are famous for their light classical compositions, synchronized singing and very alluring selection of Urdu Ghazels. They started the concert with a hamd in praise of Allah followed by a few famous Ghazels from their album “Ghuldast-e-Ghazel” that had a beautiful amalgamation of ragas. To the delight of audience they interposed their Ghazel singing with relevant and beautiful Urdu couplets of classical and contemporary poets. Mohammed Vakil mesmerized the audience with his melodious voice. He commented that according to the Indian tradition he was not supposed to sing after his ustads (teachers) but he had their blessings to do so. On public demand Mohamed Vakil sang many popular Ghazels from Indian films. Audience enjoyed the way he presented a string of famous Ghazels and songs without interruption. To conclude the concert Ahmed Husain, Mohammed Husain came back to the stage with an overwhelming Qawwali from Film Veer Zara. __
