The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) - Women's Section Jeddah - received a letter of appreciation from Abdul Kareem Hamad, director general of the education department in Jeddah. The Ministry of Education thanked WAMY's women's department for the efforts they made to support the campaign “Mercy between each other” launched by the Ministry of Education to assist teachers and students in different schools affected by the floods which ravaged areas of the city on Nov. 25. Samia Salik, the information officer of WAMY's women's department, told Saudi Gazette that the letter was received recently by Hala Naseer, head of the women's department in Jeddah. “WAMY worked with the education ministry to provide aid to 27 flood-damaged schools. We provided full support to teachers and students,” she said. Raodah Sulta, supervisor of the WAMY aid program, said that the organization received a list of requests in addition to the needs of the Ministry of Education, which formed a special team to direct and implement aid efforts. She said that WAMY's aid activities in support of Jeddah's flood victims included rebuilding damaged homes and providing them with furnishings and electrical equipment. In addition, students were provided with school bags, stationary, shoes and other basic needs.
