A total of 6,258 students graduated from King Abdul Aziz University Tuesday in the presence of the Emir of the Makkah Region, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. The students represented the 39th batch of graduates from the institution. The Emir was received at the ceremony by Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khaled Bin Muhammad Al-Anqari, the university's president Dr. Osama Bin Sadeq Tayyeb and faculty deans at the university's sports stadium. Medical graduates took their oath before Prince Khaled. Other students were also honored at the end of the ceremony. During the ceremony, Prince Khaled handed keys of new cars to four distinguished graduates. The cars were presented by KAU. Minister of Higher Education said that the new graduates will shoulder a responsibility to fill the gap of employment needs in both government and private sectors, especially in the fields of sciences, health, and administration. In his speech, Tayyeb said that his university is proud of its new graduates who will contribute to the development of this nation. It is a historic moment for the graduates as they join the labor market, he added. The ceremony included graduates in diploma, bachelors, Master's and doctorate programs. Tayyeb had earlier said that students could be assured of having received an excellent education in all specializations, from the “distinctive” staff at the institution. Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Youbi, chairman of the Higher Committee for the Graduation Ceremony, had said earlier this week that the university had provided its students with study programs that suited the needs of the labor market. They would have the basic skills that would enable them to join the market immediately, he said.
