Over 100 top Saudi companies and joint venture firms will participate in the annual Career Day to offer job opportunities to university graduates. The event is organized by the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and will be held for three days from Jan. 18 to 20. The KFUPM Career Day has become a popular event for employers to interview graduates for possible employment in their organizations and for graduating students to seek and select future business organization to join after their graduation. “The Career Day provides an opportunity for employers to interview graduates and for graduates to have an idea of the available jobs that are being offered by the participating companies,” said Dr. Talat Al-Kharobi, KFUPM Assistant Dean of Student Employment and Training. “The event is a familiarization of students and companies, a situation which is advantageous to both parties,” he said. The event will benefit over 1,400 graduates of KUPM, mostly in the field of engineering and business management. Graduates from other universities, colleges and technical schools throughout the Kingdom were also invited to attend the Career Day, according to Al-Kharobi. He said the first two days of the event will be solely opened to students of KFUPM. After that, all students, including high school graduates are encouraged to attend and be interviewed by the human resource personnel of the participating companies. Students visiting the booths of the participating companies will be given the opportunity to submit their credentials and attend presentations and lectures about the companies they are interested to join, according to Al-Kharobi. Among the participating companies are Saudi Aramco, the affiliated companies under the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic), the Saudi Electricity Company, government-owned and controlled corporations, banks, finance companies, industrial firms, manufacturing companies and service organizations. The Career Day will be opened by Dr. Khalid S. Al-Sultan, President of KFUPM. Top government officials, chief operating officers, and general managers of leading companies in the Kingdom will be present during the opening day.
