Customs at Saudi land, marine and air crossings has seized more than seven million counterfeited items in 2009 involving several types of medication, cosmetic products, car parts and tires, electronics, foodstuff and juice. Spokesman for Saudi Customs Abdullah Al-Kharboosh said the items seized in 2009 numbered 162 percent higher than seizures in 2008 when two million items were seized. “Intensive courses and memos signed with several companies have improved inspectors' skills,” the spokesman said.
