year-old Saudi student arrested in New Jersey on charges of assault, stealing and smashing two cars and assaulting arresting officers has been ordered deported from the United States. A court here also banned the student from entering the United States in future. Saudi Deputy Consul in New York Yousuf Al-Bluwi said the student, only identified as A.A., faced 60 years in jail. However, according to a settlement with the Attorney General, only deportation orders were issued. The judge set a bail of one million dollars that he later reduced to $70,000, Al-Bluwi said. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs furnished the bail. The consulate decided to hire a lawyer to defend the student after it was found that he was suspected of being mentally-ill. The defense team convinced the court to release the student after he had spent a month in jail.
