A mother and her children stand in front of their home destroyed by the anti-encroachment squad Wednesday in Old Ajwad District, east of Jeddah. The family home was alleged to have been illegally built. At least 14 other homes in the same area were demolished Wednesday and 31 others are scheduled for destruction soon, said Samir Ba-Sabrin, the head of the squad. The homes obstruct the new sewage drainage project, he said. Some residents, however, said that they had legal ownership titles approved by the court.
