Quba'a Police in Madina on Monday detained one of the patients who ran away from Jeddah's Al-Amal Hospital last Thursday where he was being treated for addiction. He was captured by road patrols in the region after his brother reported the matter. Sources said the escape from the hospital will result in a change in a number of leading positions at the institution. It is expected that the changes will affect the Medical Services Department and other sections that deal directly with patients. Sources said that the treatment programs were below standard, a number of employees occupying technical positions – like lab specialists, psychiatric consultants and pharmacy director – were appointed in administrative positions. There were also other employees who held certain positions with unsuitable qualifications. “Favoritism in salary increases and appointments has created discontent among employees. Many have accepted the situation because they fear losing their jobs,” the sources said.
