The Ministry of Interior said on Sunday that nearly 8.5 million Captagon pills had been prevented from entering the Kingdom in a single drugs bust on a transport truck carrying a construction digger. A ministry spokesman said that investigations into organized crime networks led to the discovery of the illegal narcotics, said to have a market value of just over SR292 million, hidden inside the tires of a heavy construction vehicle being transported on the back of a trailer truck. The spokesman said that Customs authorities detained three Saudis and three non-Saudis during the operation, but did not reveal when or where the seizure was made. The ministry also revealed that it has provided information leading to successful raids in Turkey on Captagon-producing factories, operations described as the largest of their kind in the history of Turkey. The operations led to the discovery of over 30 tons of material capable of producing 200 million Captagon pills with a market value of $1.6 billion.
