Prince Dr. Mansour Bin Mit'eb Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, has approved a program for the comprehensive development of municipal work through implementation of a project for the measurement of the performance of mayoralties. The project aims to upgrade the services of mayoralties and municipalities and to create a sustainable mechanism to measure the standard of performance. The project will also provide mayoralties with mechanisms that will enable them to measure the production level using precise scientific methods besides offering incentives to develop and upgrade performance through a competitive environment. The officials in the ministry have started taking steps to execute the project. In this regard, the minister has issued a decision to form a specialist working team in the ministry to meet other working teams and to carry out the review and evaluation of the performance standard. The executive steps also include a study of the current status of municipal work in every mayoralty through documentation of all the services, organizational structures, other information and data related to municipal work besides training the working teams and the concerned staff of the mayoralties on implementing the indices for measuring performance of municipal work. Starting Saturday, the specialist working team will be visiting Makkah Mayoralty for four days to brief the staff on the project and to focus on the project's goal. The minister has approved the project within the ministry's plan to develop work in all mayoralties and municipalities which should have a positive impact on the services being provided to citizens.
