Dominating the race from the beginning Khaled Al-Sadoon clinched the title by beating Faisal Al-Shareef and Nail Bedair to the second and third places respectively at the two-day Toyota Saudi Star Autocross Championship 2009 at Jeddah Raceway racetrack. With this the Toyota Autocross Championship 2009 comes to an end with Al-Sadoon emerging as the over all champion with the best time of 00:56:782. Majed Al-Ghamdi stood second with 00:56:857 and Zeeb Al-Qahtani third (00:57:868). The event, held under the supervision of Saudi Automobile Federation (SAF), has helped discover many motorsport talents. Ali Raif Al-Harbi from Jeddah Youth Welfare Office and Badr Al-Ghythi from the Saudi Motorsport Federation also graced the event along with Abdullah Bakhashab, motorsport developer in the Kingdom. In the official qualifying stage, Al-Sadoon achieved the best time and the pole position, followed by a talented Al Shareef and Bedair. On the second day he stormed into the lead from the first lap recording the fastest time of 00.54.453 minutes and emerged champion. “I did my best to win the championship title and the final round was very challenging,” Al-Sadoon said. Thirty-three racing enthusiasts pitted their skills in a marathon battle as each tried to score the maximum under the new points system. When the dust settled it was Al Sadoon in his Hyundai Elantra who led the podium winners. “I really struggled to win, but I loved every minute of it and will do it again,” Al-Sadoon said of his well-deserved victory. Al-Shareef, favorite of the round, piloted his Hyundai Genesis for second best time of 00:55:235. Bedair in his white Nissan Z finished in 00:65:448. The event, organized by Abdullah Bakhashab Establishment for Motor Sport Development attracted a large number of fans and many families. “I was impressed with their driving,” said ace rally driver Abdullah Bakhashab whose company is always on the lookout for new guys with potential to excel in motor sport. The group winners were: 1. SS – Abdullah Najar (00:56:448), 2. AS – Nail Bedair (00:54:453), 3. DS – Yousef Al-Harmoosh (59:728), 4. BS – Faisal Al-Shareef (00:55:235), 5. CS –Khaled Al-Sadoon (00:56:951), 6. ES – Zeeb Al-Qhatani (00:55:269), 7. P – Maed Al-Gamdi (00:54:132). Results were calculated according to the times achieved with their own cars.
