Police in Jeddah broke up on Friday a six-member gang running a prostitution racket led by a woman of Arab nationality and operating in the Al-Safa District of the city. The three men and three women – also from various Arab countries – ran a pimping service sending girls to the homes of clients, and were arrested when a police officer posed as a customer and a deal was struck for SR1,000. When two women were brought to the undercover policeman and money changed hands officers moved in to arrest them along with their driver and two other males who arrived in the same vehicle. During interrogation it transpired that the manageress of the operation supplied girls to parties for up to SR3,000. One of the males arrested was sought by the authorities in connection with a number of other offenses. Accountant arrested Jeddah police also arrested on Friday a 42-year-old accountant of Arab nationality accused of stealing SR90,000 from a private company in Al-Balad by transferring the money to his own personal bank account. The same day, officers held for questioning a Pakistani salesman after an agent representing a gas station accused him of putting into his own account 300,000 riyals which should have been deposited with the account of the company owning the station. Investigations into the charges and the whereabouts of the money continue.
