A recent study of 150 people aged 21-35 who experienced sexual dysfunction on their honeymoons has show that 75 percent were afflicted by psychological problems while the remaining 25 percent experienced dysfunction as a result of some physical problem or illness. Professor Sa'eed Qattan, a member of the Saudi Committee for Sexual Disorders and Infertility and supervisor of the study, emphasized the importance of psychological as well as physical preparation for marriage, adding that grooms must learn how to deal with their wives. Professor Qattan explained that it is difficult to determine the pathological causes for sexual dysfunction, emphasizing that a weak erection is usually a sign the medical intervention is necessary. It is necessary to see a certified medical doctor for treatment. The study also revealed that many cases of sexual dysfunction are a result of anxiety , depression, frustration and fear of failure, in addition to many other factors that can affect sex life in the early party of a marriage. A lack of sexual education can lead to disturbances in the psychological state of one of the partners, resulting in tension that can have many repercussions. Professor Qattan also emphasized the importance of clinical history for patients and the utilization of available tests to detect any factors that may influence sexual dysfunction. Many patients might suffer from pathological condition in addition to pre-existing psychological problems. Qattan warned against delay in seeking treatment, pointing out that psychological problems are likely to increase with such a delay. This can lead to the termination of the marriage, he said. As for the treatment of sexual dysfunction, Qattan said that most patients suffer from marked tension and depression, which is why it is better to use long-acting sexual enhancement drugs such as Cialis. Though not a cure-all, such drugs will relieve a great deal of stress temporarily, thus allowing the sufferer to seek treatment in hopes of a long-term solution. __
