year-old drunken thief gave himself away on Monday by emitting loud screams as he tried to break through the lock of a shop door, attracting the attention of neighbors who informed the police. Locals were awoken late at night by the screams and peered from windows to see the wannabe robber tottering in the street and attempting to break a stubborn lock. After his arrest the thief reportedly told investigators that he had hatched the plot some time ago, but was too scared to go through with it. “He said he was only able to muster up the courage to commit the crime by getting drunk,” a police spokesman said. “Apparently he got the idea from an American film.”
