Two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Rome warned other migrant workers using the internet to be warry of swindlers after they were victimized by hackers who had used their personal e-mail accounts to con their friends. Annaliza Bueno Magsino and Ric Rosales said hackers have taken their passwords and used their emails to try to get money from frriends. Magsino said one of her friends received an e-mail from her asking for 1,200 pounds. The e-mail stated that she went on an urgent trip to London and was robbed. The 50-year-old Rosales has the same story, as he too had fallen prey to internet hackers. “My friends and relatives in the United States, Holland, Germany and the Philippines called me up to verify if something had happened to me,” said Rosales. Both expressed concern that hackers might succeed in duping friends and kin of other OFWS. – ABS
