The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties has said that 20 health practitioners at a private hospital in the capital have been dismissed for holding forged qualifications and for substandard performance. Commission Secretary General Hussein Al-Fureihi said that the 20 employees had previously been suspended or dismissed from work at different times by various authorities, among them the owner of the hospital in question. “The move follows Royal Approval for the granting of residency visas to health workers to work in tandem with the Commission's registry,” Al-Fureihi said. “Work in the private health sector is an extremely sensitive matter as it directly affects the public, so only those with high qualifications deserve to be employed in it,” he said. Al-Fureihi added that the relevant authorities should step up their efforts to rid the private sector of all unqualified practitioners.
