The International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) has praised King Abdullah's action to help victims of Jeddah's floods. The King was hailed for his directives to alleviate the suffering of victims by providing shelter and financial aid and taking necessary measures to stop it from happening again. ICDO has particularly emphasized the King's instructions to get life back to normal in flood-hit areas. This praise came from Nawaf Al-Slaibi, the Secretary General of the ICDO, in a letter to General Sa'ad Abdullah Al Tuweijiri, Chief of Civil Defense. The Royal Decree in dealing with this disaster, was a “true example” of how to deal with such catastrophes, Slaibi said. Slaibi said that ICDO and humanitarian organizations look with appreciation to the humanitarian efforts exerted by King Abdullah, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to provide support for the flood-hit families, both Saudis and foreigners, during disaster that has claimed over 123 lives.
