Reliance Industries bought 11 percent more crude in November versus October, including its first ever purchase of Chad's Doba and locally produced Mangala crudes, data from trade sources showed on Thursday. Reliance imported about 1.42 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude in November, up from about 1.28 million bpd the month before, the data showed. Reliance, which owns the world's biggest refining complex, imported about 749,600 bpd in November 2008 amid indications of slowing oil demand due to the global financial crisis, but still up sharply from 431,420 bpd in October 2008 as the refiner shipped in crude for its new refinery. Last December Reliance commissioned a 580,000 bpd refinery next to its old 660,00 bpd plant at Jamnagar in Gujarat, and it is operating the new unit at more than 100 percent capacity. Last month the refiner bought about 8,100 bpd of Mangala crude produced from the Rajasthan block of Cairn India, the local arm of Cairn Energy, which began crude oil production from end
