Sayed Mohammed Al-Sayed's horse Gawazar Almals won the 1,200m race for three years and more Arabian horses to clinch the Saudi Gazette Shield at the Equestrian Club here Wednesday. Gawazar Almals came home in a time of 1.25.96 to edge the same owner's horse Zwuaina Almaha and Sahabat Khair for Raji Qashlan. Abdul Aziz Al-Sihli, Assistant Director General for Marketing, Okaz, and Acting Editor-in-Chief of Al-Nadi Magazine, and Ahmed Sulaiman Al-Battah, Assistant Director General for Administrative Affairs, gave away the Saudi Gazette Shield to the winner. In all races were held in five different categories on the cups of Okaz Organization and Ismail Abudawood Trading Company. Al-Imbirattoura picked up the Al-Nadi Magazine Shield for horses born in 2006 for the sons of Al-Shareef Hazza'a Al-Abdali in a time of 2.17.61. Abdul Aziz Al-Sahli's horse Shaikhat Al-Afras came in second. The third race for three-year-old horses over 2,000m was won by Al-Mishar'a'ah for the sons of Hasan Al-Shalabi, who picked up the Roa'a Magazine Shield. Al-Mishar'a'ah came in first in a time of 2.17.32, ahead of Qirnas Mi'ala of Abdul Aziz Al-Sahli and Motafa'ila of Raji Qashlan came third. The fourth title of the evening for three-year olds and more over 1,400m was won by Shukran for Fahd Al-Hazmi in 1.34.04. The second place went to Kaseb for Al-Shareef Hazza'a Bin Shaker's son and Reem Al-Jandaliyah came third for the sons of Ali and Abdul Aziz Al-Hammadi. Hasan Al-Fadhli, manager of Abudawood Family Properties, handed the Abudawood Company Cup to the winner. The fifth and last race for two-year-old horses over a distance of 1,400m for Okaz Cup was clinched by Wardah for Fahd Al-Hazmi. Wardah ended the race in 1.32.69. The second place went to Al-Ayed for the sons of Al-Shareef Hazza'a, while the third spot went to Zarnouqa for the sons of Ali and Abdul Aziz Al-Hammadi. On behalf of Waleed J. Kattan, Director General of Okaz organization, Al-Sihli gave away the Okaz Cup to the owner of the winning horse. At the end of the races, Al-Shareef Hazza'a presented memorial shields to the sponsors in recognition for their support to the equestrian sports.
