Four men have been sentenced to five years in prison and 1,200 lashes of the whip each for kidnapping a woman and attempting to rape her, a Madina court verdict said Wednesday. Two men, 22 and 23, hijacked a car while it was being fueled up at a gas station with the woman inside and sped away. A third man followed them driving the car the two had stepped out from to kidnap the woman. The woman was inside a private car she had earlier stopped for a ride. The driver of the private car said he left the car while the woman was inside to grab something from the store. Later, the two dumped the hijacked car at a side road and took the woman in the car that was following them. The three men then took the woman to a deserted area where one of the three attempted to rape her. The woman battled the man and did not give in, which frustrated the group who decided to drive her back to her house. They called up a friend to bring them a different car in which they took the woman and dumped her near her house and sped away. The woman immediately reported the crime to the police who identified one of the culprits through a phone subscription slip that the woman took with her from their car, leading to the arrest of the group.
