In his third marriage, a 95-year-old man has tied the knot with a 30-year-old woman in Bahrah. The man's first wife, who is one year older than him, is still with him, but she is sick and has been bedridden for years now, he said. “She was my brother's wife and I married her after he passed away,” said Hamdan Al-Harbi, who was energetically receiving his wedding guests. Al-Harbi said his first marriage did not cost a lot: two sheep and a piece of furniture that he described as an exotic Persian floor mat. About 55 years ago, Al-Harbi had a second marriage with almost the same dowry, he said. Al-Harbi has six sons, four daughters and 35 grandchildren. “I am in good health and I walk about six kilometers a day from Otaibiah District to the Grand Mosque for prayers,” he said. Al-Harbi, who is a farmer, said he did not eat or drink anything but natural food like camel's milk, goat's milk, ghee, and pearl mille (an essential food crop in the arid and semi-arid dry regions). With his new marriage, he has to feed two wives from his social security pay of SR2,000.
