The Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Mohieddin Khoja has said that the two channels of the Holy Qur'an and Prophet's Sunnah (Traditions) have expanded their satellite coverage to Central and Southeast Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa, North America, Southern Canada, Northern Mexico, Hawaiian Islands and Central and South America. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr. Khoja pointed out that the official telecast began in the Arab region on 18/12/2009 and via most world satellites on 24/12/2009. The Minister noted that the expansion of the scope of the telecasts comes within the framework of interest and support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah for the development of media in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, their propagation all over the world and the access of all Muslims in the world to the two channels of the Holy Qur'an and Prophet's Sunnah. Dr. Khoja commended the continuing support of the media by the King, the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier and their keenness for the significant development of the media. The Minister said that an agreement has been signed with the Arab Satellite Communications Organization (ARABSAT) to telecast the two channels of the Holy Qur'an and Prophet's Sunnah via Asian Satellite (Asia SAT-5), European Satellite (Hot Bird), satellite (New Skies 7) which covers the continent of South America and Africa, US Satellite (Galaxy 19) and satellite (Hispasat 1). He indicated that these telecasts are in addition to the broadcast of the two channels on Arabsat and Nilesat satellites, adding that the current broadcast covers all regions of the world and that the broadcast of these channels can be monitored on most satellites on the same frequencies that carry the broadcast of the first channel to all parts of the world. Dr. Khoja said that the broadcasts will inform Muslims all over the world of the correct teachings of their religion, and enable them to view live broadcasts of the prayers from the Two Holy Mosques, adding that the broadcast will be available 24 hours a day.
