Crowne Plaza Jeddah has emerged as winner of the 2009 Hotel of the Year Award, out of the 250 hotels in Europe, Middle East and Africa that vied for the much-coveted prize. At a function held on Monday night at the Crowne Plaza Jeddah, Rafique Izhiman, general manager of the hotel, expressed gratitude for the support of the staff and patrons, adding that the award is a reflection of its “The Place To Meet” slogan. The Hotel of the Year Award category recognizes hotels that have achieved outstanding results and have gone the extra mile to exceed expectations when looking after guests, employees, shareholders and the local community. Crowne Plaza Jeddah won the award after one year of completing a massive renovation, which supported the image of the hotel as one of the most known and luxurious hotels in Jeddah, enjoying a premium location on the Corniche and facing the famous Jeddah Fountain. The newly renovated accommodations which received accolades - like the Sakura Japanese Restaurant which has been awarded twice for excellent service and the renowned Al Zahra Restaurant which serves international buffets with live cooking station - are designed for the guests looking for a sound level of privacy, comfort and elegance. The 2009 Hotel of the Year Award came in tandem with another award, the Torch Bearer Award, which is given by InterContinental Hotel Group to the hotels with remarkable results in financial revenue, guest experience scores, Priority Club Reward enrolments and system delivery.
