Police in Jeddah arrested a Yemeni illegal resident while he was on his way to Al-Safa district after he had stolen SR500 from a car rental agency. He had robbed the agency after they refused to rent him a car. “The arrested man has stolen a Jordanian citizen's iqama (residence permit), and replaced his image on it to trick the car agencies that he used to rob,” said Sergeant Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Souat, an officer at the Al-Shamaliya police precinct. According to Souat, the Yemeni man had been deported from the Kingdom many years ago after he had been committing similar crimes. Police found at least five contracts for rented cars in the stolen car he was driving upon his arrest. The cars in the contracts were all late-model luxury cars he had rented using the fake ID and sold in Jizan for much cheaper than they're worth. The arresting officer was Colonel Atik Al-Sulami, head of Al-Shamaliya police precinct. In an unrelated incident in Jeddah's Al-Sharfia district, a young Saudi man aged around 30 shot his brother and ran away. Police are still looking for him. “We received calls from witnesses who heard the pistol go off at about 5 PM (Tuesday) in the victim's apartment,” added Al-Souat. “ We quickly went to the crime scene but we found that the shooter had escaped.” According to the Jeddah police department's office, no further information about the shooter could be made available as of today, as the case is still under investigation. __
