Bertrand Besancenot, French Ambassador to the Kingdom, hosted a concert at his residence in the Diplomatic Quarters in Riyadh wherein famous French singer Segan' put on a thrilling performance that included a range of hit songs. Segan', who is popular for her interpretation of Jazz, the Blue and the Gospel in her songs, is influenced by big names in the industry, such as, Ella Fitsgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Ray Charles and Mahalia Jackson. The event's introductory brochure describes her as: “A native from French Caribbean, she became famous after her appearance at the Paris International Gospel Festival, and in 2001 she received a standing ovation at the Paris Opera where she sang accompanied by a choir of 20 singers. Since then, she has been performing in Europe, the USA, Africa and Asia.” The event, which started at 8 P.M. in the main reception hall was attended by men and women of different nationalities. Segan' and Frank, the accompanying pianist, entertained the audience with a string of back-to-back renditions, which included: Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen, Lean On Me, Kumbaya, When The Saints Go Marching' In, Oh! Happy Day, Georgia, Les Feuilles Mortes, The Man I Love, What A Wonderful World, Stand By My, Isn't She Lovely, Summertime, New York, New York, Dock Of The Bay, I Will Always Love You, and My Baby Just Cares. At the end of the program, the singer thanked her pianist and a few others.
