An expatriate has accused doctors at Najran Public Hospital of causing the death of his wife. Turki Muhammed Al-Anthri, the husband of Dalal, 20, admitted her to Najran general hospital suffering from abdominal pain. The surgeon at the hospital diagnosed her and decided to remove her gall bladder, he claimed. Dalal was the mother of two children, 3-month-old Muhammad and 15-month-old Amal. He alleged that after the operation his wife started screaming in pain, but the doctor treating her assured him that the pain was normal because of the tubes inserted in her stomach to remove blood and waste. Al-Anthri claimed that the doctor did nothing when his wife's condition deteriorated. He claimed that 17 days after she was admitted, the doctor requested an X-ray, which showed that the tube running into her stomach was not functioning. The doctor then referred her to King Khaled Hospital in Najran where she was examined and placed on a ventilator. Al-Anthri said that the doctors recommended taking her by medical plane to Asir Central Hospital, but she was eventually transported there by an ambulance. Dr Muahmmad Saad Al-Qhatani, consultant liver and organ transplant surgeon at Asir Central Hospital, said that the surgeon in Najran Hospital who dealt with the case, has been “tampering with lives.” Dr. Al-Qhatani said that when his hospital received the patient, she was in very bad health. She was on a ventilator, suffering from kidney failure and other problems.
